Mike Blake is the President and Managing Member of Rappahannock Environmental Group, LLC. Mr. Blake has worked in both the public and private sector of the environmental industry for over twenty years.
A graduate of Mary Washington College, Mr. Blake has extensive experience that includes previous positions at Dewberry & Davis working on FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program, and at the John Marshall Soil & Water Conservation District supporting Fauquier County’s ESC program. While in his position in the Spotsylvania County Planning Department as their environmental engineer, he expanded his knowledge to include SWM and Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act compliance. For the last 15 years he worked at two separate engineering firms, most recently with Sullivan, Donahoe & Ingalls (SDI). In each case, he successfully created an environmental division within each company, providing consulting services aimed at assisting clients with addressing environmental regulations.
Mr. Blake is a certified Professional Wetland Delineator (PWD) with the Virginia DPOR, a certified Dual Combined Administrator with the Virginia DEQ, and a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional. Over the last twenty years he has performed thousands of ESC and SWM inspections, in addition to hundreds of plan reviews, and inspections of permanent SWM/BMP facilities. Mr. Blake has performed wetland delineations and permitting on thousands of acres of land across the greater Rappahannock River Watershed and was the LEED Project Manager on the Veteran’s Affairs office located in the City of Fredericksburg which obtained a LEED-Silver rating following construction.
Mr. Blake lives in Spotsylvania with his wife and four kids. He is active in his church and has coached hundreds of kids through Spotsylvania Little League and Upward Basketball.
